Inserts
Insert router bits hold replaceable solid carbide inserts in precision seat pockets in the tool body. When an edge wears, you change the insert, not the tool, and the new insert seats in the same pocket, so the profile stays the same. Vortex Tool makes both the bodies and the inserts in Schofield, Wisconsin, and balances its tools to G2.5 or better.

What we stock
- Insert V-groove cutters for folding, 45°, 60°, 90° and 120° included angle
- Insert spoilboard cutters, 2-1/2" to 4" diameter, with 2 or 3 wings
- MDF door tooling: outside door edge, inside roughing, inside corner cleaning and raised panel bits, and the 7900 four piece MDF door set
- Dovetail drawer bits with round edge or square edge inserts, and shaker door and bull nose bits

Holding insert router bits
Bits with a 1/2" or 3/4" shank go in a collet or a shrink fit holder: Collets, Shrink Fit Holders. The 8030, 8040, 8045, 8065, 8080, 8085 and 8090 have the HSK63F taper built in and go straight into an HSK63F spindle.
